The Newcomer

Happy New Year!

This is my first book of the new year, and it quite possibly could have been the one that has been on my physical TBR for the longest. I found this book in a bargain bin and just added it to my stack and kind of forgot about it.

This is the first book that I’ve read by Mary Kay Andrews and I have to say, I’ll have to look into her other books because this one was pretty good. While it was a slow start, I feel that the story really picked up and kept it suspenseful and had a strong finish.

This story follow Letty, a woman from New York, that finds her sister Tanya dead in her apartment. Tanya always told Letty that if something were to happen to her, it would be her ex, Evan, and that she needed to grab the go-bag and her daughter Maya and get as far away from Evan as possible. Letty did nothing short of that and followed her sister’s instructions exactly as requested. Finding her and her niece in Florida, Letty uncovers the ghosts of her sister’s past all while trying to stay in hiding.
