The September House

If you don’t follow me on social media, you may not be aware of the fact that this year I have been using an app to create a wheel that I can spin to determine what book I will read next from my TBR. The wheel surprised me and switched it up with a horror.

The September House by Carissa Orlando follows Margaret and her husband, Hal, who have just purchased their dream home, a large Victorian era home, at a very reasonable price. However, soon after they moved in, they discovered that their house was haunted and every September, it got worse. The walls drip blood, the ghosts of former residents appear and they are all terrified of something that hides in the basement.

I know what you’re thinking…no thank you!

After Hal is driven away by the hauntings in the house and goes missing, their daughter, Katherine, decides she is going to pay a visit. However, September has just begun and Margaret needs to try to keep things normal.

My one grief that I have with this book is that the climax of the book occurs in the final two chapters, otherwise this is one that will keep you turning the pages.
